James Edward OLDSHUE was born on the 'old" Oldshue homestead west of Waveland in Parke County March 13, 1858 and died Nov 11, 1930. On Dec 26, 1881 James was united in marriage with Miss Emma Blanche Jarvis (1860-1918)  the daughter of William and Virginia Switzer Jarvis. To this union 3 daughters were born: Vivian (Mrs. Leon Guy); Grace (Mrs. Edward Hancock and Virginia, Mrs. Foster GLover and 4 grandchildre: Blanche Glover   Parker; Martha Glover Hayes; Patricia Glover lee and Robert Edward Glover. James attended the common school and Bloomingdale Academy then engaged in farming and cattle raisin gon the farm which he was born naming it "Limestone Valley Farm." The Oldshue family moved to Waveland in 1914 and became connected with the State bank of Waveland as DIrector and Pres. for many years. he was a charter member of Rathbone Lodge, Knights of Pythias. James' parents were  Jacob Oldshue (1816 PA - 1897 Ind) and Mary Barnes (1824 Ky - 1909 Indiana); Jacob came to In in 1836 from Ohio with his parents, John Oldshue (1790-1861) and Jemima Lincoln (1793-1870). Jacob served in the Mexican War as Quarter-Master Sgt 5th Regt Indiana Volunteers returning hom eto farm and stock raise. His children were Sarah (Mrs. lawson W. Seybold); Robert (marr Florence Peterman); Martha              (Mrs. Jerome B. Dooley); Margaret (Mrs. William Farmer); Amanda (Mrs. Daniel W. Hanna); WIlliam B (1856-1856); James Ewdard married Emma Blanche Jarvis; John Lincoln (marr Mary W. Canine) whose children   were William "Foster (1903-1984) and Clara May (1905-1980). James' great great great grandfather John Oldshue died in 1803 and started the American "Oldshue" line in York Co PA. - transcribed by kbz
